As the leaves turned golden and the air filled with that crisp fall magic, I found myself diving into a stack of books that perfectly matched the season. From cozy small-town romances to heartfelt memoirs and a dash of fantasy, this month’s reads took me everywhere, from coffee shops and apple orchards to high school hallways and magical worlds. Here are my honest thoughts on everything I read this October. As always check out my Goodreads to keep up with my latest books. Alright, let’s dive in!
Fall I Want

Rating 4 starts
This was the perfect fall-time romance read. It had that small-town charm, cozy coffee shop energy, and the entire story takes place during the autumn season, what’s not to love? I only wish it had been a little longer because I couldn’t put it down.
Talking as Fast as I Can

Rating 4 stars
I really enjoyed this one! It wasn’t exactly what I expected compared to other memoirs I’ve read, but Lauren Graham’s humor and personality shine through every page. I listened to the audiobook, which she narrates herself, and that made it even better. It felt like having a one-sided conversation with Lorelai Gilmore herself, fun, honest, and relatable.
House of Darken

Rating 4 stars
This book was nostalgic for me. Set in high school, it offered a refreshing change of pace from what I’ve been reading lately. It’s definitely a YA book, and while I feel like I’m starting to grow out of that genre, I still found it enjoyable overall.
House of Imperial

Rating 3 stars
The second book in the series didn’t quite live up to the first for me, but I still enjoyed it enough to keep reading. If you like YA fantasy with a high school twist, I’d still recommend giving the series a try.
House of Leights

Rating 3 stars
This third installment was a bit stronger than the previous one. I liked the storyline and the couple it focused on, though it didn’t completely pull me back into the series.
House of Royale

Rating 3 stars
The final book in the series wrapped things up, but by this point, I found myself just wanting to finish it. While I did enjoy parts of the journey, I’ve realized that high school–set YA books just aren’t for me anymore.
A Tropical Rebel Gets The Duke

Rating 3 stars
This one was a bit of a letdown. It was very spicy, which isn’t usually a problem, but this time, it didn’t quite work for me. I had high hopes for it as a potential replacement for my Bridgerton obsession, but unfortunately, this series didn’t hit the mark.
The Honeycrisp Orchard Inn

Rating 4 stars
I absolutely loved this book! The small-town feel and fall vibes of the apple orchard setting made it such a cozy read. I adored the dynamic between the love interests and the gentle, heartwarming tone throughout.
The Let Them Theory

Rating 5 stars
This book has been on my list since it came out earlier this year, and it did not disappoint. It’s packed with practical wisdom and life-changing insights. I’ve been slowly applying its lessons in my everyday life and have already noticed positive changes. I highly recommend not just reading this one, but really living it.
The House in the Cerulean Sea

Rating 4 stars
This book was absolutely delightful. I found myself smiling throughout, completely wrapped up in the warmth and charm of the story. It’s a cozy fantasy that isn’t overly magical but still feels whimsical and full of heart. I’m so glad I picked this up during fall, it’s the perfect feel-good read for the season.
Scrappy Little Nobody

Rating: 4.5 stars
This book absolutely cracked me up! Scrappy Little Nobody is Anna Kendrick’s memoir, and I listened to it on audiobook, which I highly recommend, since she narrates it herself. Hearing her tell her own story adds so much personality and humor. You really get to know her and all the quirky, determined steps she took to become the actress she is today. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and definitely recommend the audiobook if you’re thinking of giving it a try.
