Another month down, and that means it’s time for another reading roundup! September flew by, but I still managed to squeeze in a solid mix of books, from inspiring nonfiction to cozy fall romantasy reads. Some were hits, some were misses, and a few were perfect palette cleansers in between.
Whether you’re looking for your next great read or just curious about what I’ve been flipping (or listening) through, here’s everything I read in September, along with my honest thoughts and star ratings. As always check out my Goodreads to keep up with my latest books. Alright, let’s dive in!
Mistakes We Never Made

Rating: 2.75 stars
This book was just okay. I listened to it as an audiobook, which helped me get through it. I probably would have DNFed it if I were reading a physical copy. I love Hannah Brown, but unfortunately, not her book.
Behind the Camera

Rating: 3 stars
This was a really cute football romance centered around a player and a gameday photographer. I loved the dynamic between the characters, and how they dealt with real-world problems in a relatable way.
The Magic of Tiny Business

Rating: 4 stars
I learned so much from this one. Reading it is what finally gave me the push to start this blog! If you’re thinking about starting a business, I highly recommend it, it offers great insights on what to do (and what to avoid) when starting out.
Be Ready When the Luck Happens

Rating: 5 stars
OMG, if you’re going to read any book from this list, let it be this one! I listened to the audiobook, which is narrated by the author, and it was so fascinating to hear about all the incredible things she’s done in her life.
The Witch Collector

Rating: 3.5 stars
This book really took me by surprise. I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy it, but I’m now really excited to read the next in the series. It’s a romantasy, one of my favorite genres, and this was the perfect book to kick off my fall reading season.
The Cinnamon Bun Book Store

Rating: 3.5 stars
This was a great palette cleanser. I love a quick, easy romance that gives me all the feels. That said, the title made me think it would be more of a fall read, but it actually takes place in summer, which threw me off a bit. If romance is your thing, you’ll probably enjoy it. Just a note: while it's technically a standalone, I’d recommend reading the first book beforehand, this one references the previous couple a bit.
The Grimoire Grammar School Parent Teacher Association

Rating: 3 stars
Honestly, I expected to like this more. I did enjoy it, but it took a long time for me to get into. I loved the small-town atmosphere, but some parts of the plot felt like they were missing something. Still, it made for a decent fall read if that’s what you're after.
